Maybank Philippines and Maybank ATR Kim Eng executives, along with top officials of the Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc. (BAFI), the entity behind The Mind Museum, led the groundbreaking ceremony last January 29 of the soon to be built Maybank Performing Arts Center

The Maybank Performing Arts Center, which will soon rise at the heart of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) is a world-class venue for the performing arts. It is a multi-function center, which will house the Globe Telecom Auditorium, SunLife Ampitheater, Alveo Central Plaza, the Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall, and a McCafe outlet.

The building, to be constructed at 26th Street corner 7th Avenue at Bonifacio Global City in Taguig, is targeted to be completed in 18 to 20 months.

The ceremony started with a welcome remarks delivered by BAFI Director Manny Blas and a short update on the development by Monica Llamas of BAFI. This was followed by a blessing ceremony by BGC Parish Priest Fr. Arnold Eramiz. Messrs. Famatigan and Arnaiz led the filling of the time capsule, with the latter putting the architectural plans of the Performing Arts Center inside the capsule. Meanwhile, ATRKE President Manny Tordesillas joined the BAFI Board and other donors in the ceremonial photo with the shovels on sand.

Among the VIPs present during the groundbreaking ceremony were members of the BAFI Board led by BAFI Vice Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala; BAFI Trustees Mean Dy, Charlie Rufino, Ed Cruz and John Tan. Aside from Mr. Famatigan, Arnaiz and Tordesillas, representatives of the donors who attended were Eric Montelibano, Maybank Philippines Corporate Affairs Head; Mylene Lopa, Sun Life Financial Chief Marketing Officer; Karen Casas, Sun Life Financial Chief Administration Officer; Robert S. Lao, Alveo Land President; Anton Sanchez, Alveo Land Division Manager of Project Development; Atty. Didi Santos Javier, Globe Telecom Inc. Director Workplace Enhancement & Customer Support, Office of the CFO, and Sofia Zobel representive the Zobel de Ayala family. Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano was represented by Atty. Emiluisa Penano.
